The Tongue

The words echoed through the passageway, the cool evening meant that the window was open, words that were so quickly uttered left a lasting impression. Though in my heart it was said in love and thankfulness, the dramatic tone indicated otherwise.
The tongue is powerful, piercing, not always uplifting, and can cut straight to the heart. It's hard when the person you are talking about overhears. And as much as you could justify because they didn't hear the whole story or all that you said, which may be a blessing in disguise, it's still there lingering in their ears. Praise the Lord for grace and understanding. Praise the Lord for forgiveness. Praise the Lord for boldness to be called out and humility to repent. And I am thankful for a valuable lesson.

But no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.
James 3:8-9
