Back to School Festival

One thing I love about my church is the many ways they give back to the community. Right before school started we had the annual Back to School Festival. This was like nothing I had ever seen before. I love back to school so much, so I knew I wanted to get involved. I was the decorations committee so was able to be involved in the behind the scenes happenings and decorate the church to look like we were down on the ranch!!!

Several nights before the event we gathered at the church to pack the 700 backpacks that we were giving away. Each backpack had notebooks, pencils, crayons, paper, pens, a ruler, and folders. We packed all 700 in about 13 and a half minutes. It was AMAZING.
On the day of the event we had bounce houses, cotton candy, snowcones, popcorn, hotdogs, face painting, a community resource fair, a fire truck, and games. It was such a fun way to show the love of God to kids and their families. During one of my rotations I manned the popcorn cart, so I can now add popcorn maker to my resume'. I am definitely going to be a part of this next year!!!
