Well we made it through week number 2. This year's class is a breath of fresh air. They LOVE learning and oh it is so wonderful. They are so eager to learn and want more work. They are sad when it's the end of the day because they don't want to go home. I am currently at 23 students, but it hasn't felt like that many... Praise the Lord. Although when we walk down the hall in a line or round the corner or I am opening the door for them to go out to recess, I think "good grief where is the end of the line?" So far there have been no major behavior problems and I don't foresee any. I have just a few really really chatty ones and one little boy who I had to send out into the hall yesterday because I needed a break. He is ALWAYS interrupting me to say something and hasn't quite mastered the... I need to raise my hand and then she will let me talk. But all of that is minor compared to last year. My assistant and I keep looking at each other in awe of what we have compared to what we had last year. But then I think of my poor sweet friend in 2nd grade who inherited all my lovelies and think hmmm I need to be on my knees for her because it's going to be a loooooooong year.
This week it really hit me the pace of my life for the next few months is going to be FAST as I am finishing up my licensure. I have also decided to apply to grad school for summer/fall of 2009 so will be getting all those ducks in row before the January 1st deadline. I started to feel sick and sniffly, losing my voice, and major sinus pressure this week on Wednesday.... I couldn't believe that already my immune system was under attack. I realized that I hadn't been as faithful to take my vitamins and definitely need to make sure I get enough sleep. Wednesdays are my longest days too because I don't get out of class that night til 9:30 so am gone from like 7am - 10pm so it makes for a very tiring day. Although there is a lot on my plate right now this is the type of pace that I thrive in and I am looking forward to all the exciting things that are coming down the pipeline for fall :)
