The Great Wall of China

A day in the park in Tricia's city

This time last year I was on a plane heading for E. Asia to visit my best friend Tricia as she wrapped up her ministry there.
That was going to be a huge journey in my life. I will never forget how tired and alone I felt when I landed in Beijing only to find out that my luggage had been lost and my connecting flight had been canceled. I just wanted to crawl into a corner and cry! I was a foreigner and everyone around me was aware of that.
The question is how often do we feel like this in our lives? How often do things not go according to our plans? I would say quite often! But something God has consistantly been reminding me of over the past few weeks is that He is Sovereign. He is Sovereign! What an amazing, amazing, amazing thing. I have allowed that to flood over me, because I have needed to once again come to terms with His Sovereignty.
If you had told me a year ago I would be where I am today, I don't think I would have believed you. I had my plan in my head for how the weekend of June 20-22 was going to go and well this is not how I thought it would be. It has been hard to come to terms with it on one hand, but yet on the other hand what a blessing to see God's Sovereignty at work and to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He has my good in mind. And He desires His best for me. When you look at it that way you can do nothing but humbly bow at His feet and thank Him for wisdom and guidance and then you must continue to pray that He will orchestrate your path and lead you. Tonight I was reminded of this song my mom used to sing to me. It brought tears to my eyes and I surrendered once again my future to the God who is Sovereign and the God whose ways are higher than my ways, but who loves me and desires my good!

Beautiful, Beautiful, Jesus is Beautiful
Jesus makes Beautiful things of my life.
Carefully, touching me,
Causing my eyes to see.
Jesus makes beautiful things of my life.
