Tufts 10K for Women

I have run several 5ks in the past several years. Before I moved to Boston I bought a travel book for my trip to scout it out. In the book there is a month by month list of the big events that occur, one that is in there is the Women's 10k each Columbus Day. Last year I was not ready but made it a goal to run it in 2010, so back in August I began training and registered for the race. There were so many days I just wanted to give up, but as I crossed off days on my training schedule my confidence began to build.

The morning of the race was clear and gorgeous so me and the 7500+ other participants hit the road. It was so fun to run in a road race through Boston!

There was no time marker at mile 2 so I thought oh my goodness I am going to die because I am still only on mile 2, but much to my relief I got to mile 3 and thought okay I am almost halfway there!
My favorite part was between mile 5 and 6 the water station was run by men in tuxedos, it was so funny.

This was as I crossed the finish line and heard my fans cheering for me. It was such a rush at the end to realize, wow I set a goal and I achieved, so amazing!

I didn't quite make my goal of one hour, but with the craziness of October I really missed a few of my runs. My official time was 1:12:59, not too shabby. The next one will be better!

Me and Jillian

It meant so much to me to have my roomies at the finish line!

I have caught the running bug for sure and have signed up and will be running my first half marathon in Miami the end of January... yikes! Time to get back to the training. Maybe a marathon after that???
