Travels

When this posts I will be in route to a fabulous vacation in sunny southern California.
In light of this fact, I wanted to share a travel story with you that happened to me back in March.
I took a whirlwind 48 hour trip to visit some dear friends for a much needed break and charge to make it through the rest of the semester.
I flew out Saturday morning and then headed back early early Monday morning. The hope was to be back in Boston by mid morning so I could get some work done and have a restful afternoon.... hahaha this is how it went down.

- wake up at 4am to catch my 6am flight
-supposed to be in at Boston at 9:30am
-supposed to land in LaGuardia but get rerouted to JFK due to fog
-thinking hmmm I can just get on another flight no worries (thankfully I only had a carry-on)
- people at ticket counter at JFK seem clueless as to what to tell us
-thankfully several others needed to get to Boston too
-we have to take a taxi to LaGuardia
-me, middle-aged lady. and Indian man are given a voucher
-me and middle-aged gotta pee, we tell Indian man "DON'T LEAVE US!"
-I haven't had coffee at this point!
-the three of us weave our way through the airport looking rather strange
-finally find where we are supposed to go and see another man from our flight
-at this point we had picked up an African American woman in route to the taxi
-turban turban the taxi man shows up and we all cram into his taxi (me, Indian man, businessman, middle-aged lady, African American lady).... the melting pot at its finest
- major traffic ttttm: "you see dat traffic, I get you there FAST, one day took 3 hours, don't worry, I know short cut"
-he drives us through neighborhoods, missing stop signs, we are all holding on for dear life and can barely understand what he is saying, but he just keeps chatting away.
-I am sitting there thinking to myself, no one is going to believe this
-Just when it can't get any more hilarious ttttm turns on something on the console, I think it is going to be the radio
-all of the sudden on the little screen in the console gihad sing along begins, it looks like an SNL skit. 3 turbaned men playing instruments with a sort of green screen images behind them.
-I realize it is the call to prayer as people are bowing down on the screen and it keeps flashing back and forth to the turbaned men and the people
-I wanted to laugh so hard
-Had I not experienced it myself I don't think I would have believed what was happening.
-finally get to LaGuardia to then wait several hours and then the fog lifts and they fly the exact plane that we had landed at JFK to LaGuardia, we get on it and then have a 30minute flight to Boston... SUPER!!!

Here's to hoping my trip to California is less eventful :)
