I came straight home from work today and Tricia was watching Oprah so I caught the tail end of the program as I was working on a project. Oprah was talking about her new book club book and how it was so amazing and was gonna change everyone's lives. She posed some questions. The one that really struck me was.... "Are you looking for meaning in your life?" I can't remember all the other ones but they basically had to do with finding answers and searching for meaning. I started yelling at the screen... JESUS!!!!!!!! That is the answer to EVERYTHING! All these women are looking to Oprah to find fulfillment, purpose, meaning, and satisfaction. They are pouring into these books and joining her online chats with the author (I think she said something like 100,000 women had already signed up).
What is it going to take for our world to realize that we need Jesus? In my Bible study we are studying the book of Isaiah. My friends the same warnings that God gave His people before He sent them to exile resonate LOUD! He could have been writing them in the year 2008 because it is a complete parallel!
Alas, sinful nation,
People weighed down with iniquity,
Offspring of evildoers,
Sons who act corruptly!
They have abandoned the LORD,
They have despised the Holy One of Israel,
They have turned away from Him.
