So being the ever busy young lady that I am and well just not making time for it... my car was in need of an oil change. There were several things that reminded me of this. One was the cute little sticker up in the left corner of my windshield and the other was the annoying little orange light that lights up right next to my speedometer that says, "Maintenance Required". Right before you reach the mileage mark it will flash on once when you turn your car on just as a friendly reminder and then when it's time for some maintenance it is on in full force.
As I was driving to work the other morning I begin to think about this need for maintenance. Isn't this something that we need in all facets of life? Take our relationship with the Lord for example how easy is it to coast in that? We get comfortable cause well life is going pretty good... it's a smooth ride (sorry for all the great car puns!) and then maybe there is an area of sin or a situation arises and there is a flash of the "Maintenance Required" light. We acknowledge it and then just kind of forget about it as we continue on our journey until we are hit full force by the constant reminder, it's there flashing in front our face everytime we turn on the car. We often push God aside until we are in desperate need of Him, but He requires more than that... He deserves more than that. Oh, I will be the first to say that this is much easier said than done, but you can't run an engine without oil.... how in the world do you expect to "run" a life without the day in and day out feeding on the word and spending time communing and developing your relationship with the Lord?
I would say we all have a little Maintenance Required!
