Singles Awareness Day?!?!?!

So Happy Valentine's Day to all my friends out in blogger land.
Tonight at dinner my friend Ashleigh (I told you I was gonna give a shout out to you in one of my posts, Ash!) while waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, were discussing Valentine's Day. We found out we both wake up to the Christian radio station here in Raleigh and were both a bit bothered by one of the deejays this morning. You see she was constantly saying, "Happy Singles Awareness Day!" She was the single deejay. It really struck me as like oh goodness another bitter single person on Valentine's Day. I was thinking about it again as I drove home this afternoon. Why does February 14th have to be Singles Awareness Day? I mean in all honesty if you are single every single day (haha no pun intended) is Singles Awareness Day. You wake up in the morning and there is not a spouse in your bed, you don't do the day in day out husbandly/wifely duties, and you don't need a day to remind you of this! Why such the attention on this one day? I mean it's evident 365 or in this year's case 366. It then made me a little sad for the people who get all bummed out about V-day. I mean shouldn't you let those whom you love know constantly how you love them? Shouldn't you do small things and often big things to let them know you care, are praying for them, appreciate them, etc? So why do we wait for a greeting card holiday to do this?
My Valentine's Day was probably the best one I have ever had. I was almost on my way out the door this morning and found out that I had a 2 hour delay to school... it was amazing! I had an awesome date with the Lord this morning and it totally set the tone for my day. I had lots of love and waaaaay toooooo much food throughout the course of the day (good thing I have faithfully been going to the gym this week!). And tonight I had dinner with 5 amazing friends. God is so faithful and I have seen that over and over and over and over. Yes, I may have had yet another Valentine's Day "single" but what is the meaning of single? Some of the definitions are:
only one, solo, consisting of only one part, etc.
We are never alone if we have the Lord and even more than that He brings special people into our lives to pour into us and yet others for us to pour into. Yes, I truly desire to be married and yes at times it stinks to be single, but well what will feeling sorry for myself do? Nothing! God is teaching me so much about this and I am so excited to see what He has in store.
So my friends I will say it again... Happy Valentine's Day!
