St. Patty's Day Road Race

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know it is May, but come on, I have been working hard :)

I ran my first Boston race the weekend before St. Patty's day. It was the South Boston Boys and Girls Club 5k road race. I was super excited because it had been awhile since I had done a race. My friend Kelly and I went to pick up our gear the morning before the race. There was a guy from one of the running stores there with boxes and boxes of running shoes... he asked me what size I wore and I told him, he then handed me a box and I GOT FREE RUNNING SHOES!! The ones I had been running in were about 8 years old (really sad I know). So with my official running shoes I was ready for the race.

My awesome new kicks and my number... I was ready for race day!

As soon as the gun went off so did the downpour and my ipod died... it was the most miserable feeling ever. My feet were soaked, my coat was soaked, my hair was soaked, everything was soaked, and the race had some killer hills. I finished 38:10, not my best time but not my worst, not too shabby considering I walked a good portion, it rained like crazy, and I barely had trained.
And nothing says a race in New England like some good ole clam chowda afterwards... Legal Seafood was one of the sponsors.

I am really looking forward to doing more running now that the weather is nicer and my goal is to do a half-marathon in the next year!!! :)

Those are Mizuno Waves! And the best shoes out there. I ran my marathon in those! And they retail for $150- so you got a steal and I'm very jealous! Congrats on your race!
