Happy 4th of July

4th of July is my, tied for first place with Christmas, favorite holiday. I think partially because my favorite color is red, I heart hot dogs and baked beans, and because I am a huge fan of America.
With the current situation of our country it is so easy to overlook the reason why America was established in the first place, religious freedom.
I am so thankful for all of the people who risked their lives and set out into the unknown because they longed to worship God. I am also thankful for the men and women who have and continue to fight for my freedom. What a huge sacrifice they make by leaving their families for extended periods of time to do what they feel called to do.
As I have traveled through different continents, it is always so refreshing to come back to America and know that I am free. Free to vote and elect those in authority over me. Free to worship God openly. Free to go to school and advance in my field.
Oh may I be constantly reminded of the grace that has been upon our nation and not forget to plead at the throne for this freedom to continue and for God to have mercy on our nation!
