Me and the kiddies

Wednesday was a fun field trip to Kure Beach and the Ft. Fisher Aquarium. I have to admit that I was not looking forward to this field trip. We had to be at school at 6am and weren't going to be getting back til 6:30pm. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun the trip was.
We road down to the beach in charter buses and I got several movies and was definitely deemed a very cool teacher considering one of the movies was High School Musical 2 and we all sang along to all the songs :)
When we got to the beach we ate lunch and then had about 2 hours on the beach. It was a gorgeous sunny day with a wonderful breeze blowing. Most of my students had never seen the ocean and it was so much fun getting to be there to experience their first view of the sand and the water. They were screaming with excitement. One of my students once we got on the sand pointed at the ocean and said, "Look, Miss Grant, bodies of water!" Another told me it was the best day of his life. I captured some fun videos of them getting their feet wet and screaming and running around.
I had a good chance to sit in the sand and just watch them. It brought tears to my eyes watching them play in the sand and splashing around in the water. I have really been seeking what God has for me next year. This day really made me think twice about leaving where I am. All along I have wanted to show these children love and give them stability and show them that someone believes in them. What an amazing position I am in to expand their horizons and help them see more of the world. Oh I am so humbled that God has put me in this position and chosen me!
